Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the successful candidate will play a key role in
the financial administration of both municipalities. Must comply with The Municipalities
Act, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Municipal by-laws policies and
procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for all accounting functions for both the municipality of the RM of Prairie
Rose and the Village of Jansen including compliance with applicable legislation and
reporting requirements.
  • Duties include, but are not limited to, general ledger balancing, budget minding,
bank reconciliations, payroll, source deduction remittances, T4’s and Records of
Employment; accounts payable, involving account coding, accounts receivable,
encompassing invoicing and collections; levy and tax remittances and reporting and
other accounting functions as they arise.
  • Create and present all monthly financial reporting for the RM and the Village to their
respective Councils.
  • Administrative tasks such as receptionist services, replying to emails, process
payments, relay messages, filing documents and ordering office supplies.

Education and Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent (GED)
  • 3-5 years experience in accounting or payroll systems.
  • Preference given to an individual with a college diploma or certificate in business
administration, finance, accounting or related field.
  • Knowledge of municipal accounting practices, accounts payable, accounts receivable,
maintaining general ledgers, payroll functions and procedures, and ability to prepare
financial statements and reports with a high degree of quality and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of municipal operations, specifically in municipal software Munisoft would
be a definite asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality is required.
  • Must be bondable.
