The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated, part-time Mental Health Therapist (21 hours per week): VAW Program (14 hours/week) and Brief/Counselling and Therapy Program (7 hours per week). This position is based out of our Clinton office, with the flexibility to meet clients where they are. Within the VAW role, you will provide compassionate support to women impacted by violence. You will work collaboratively with community partners as required to support the needs of the women in the program and contribute to their healing journey. In this role, you will utilize trauma-informed assessments and co-create treatment plans alongside your clients ensuring their voices are honoured and needs are met. Within the Brief/Counselling and Therapy role, you will provide mental health services to children, youth, caregivers, and their families. As a vital member of the Huron-Perth Centre’s clinical team, your work will directly advance our Strategic Directions, bridging gaps in care by seamlessly collaborating with families and cross-sector community partners to build safety and resilience.
VAW Program Responsibilities (14 hours/week)
- Prioritize rapid safety responses: Actively monitor risk levels to formalize personal safety plans for women and their dependents.
- Meet survivors where they are: Deliver safe, flexible, individual therapy across diverse settings, including offices, schools, homes, and community spaces.
- Facilitate group treatment services: Focusing on empowerment, education, accountability, and breaking cycles of violence.
Children and Youth Mental Health Responsibilities (7 hours/week):
- Provide evidence-based therapy: Deliver individual mental health assessment, treatment, and therapeutic intervention for children, youth, and their families.
- Promote healthy development: Utilize evidence-informed interventions that strengthen emotional regulation, adaptive coping skills, resilience, and healthy relationship development.
- Facilitate group treatment services: Focusing on attainable goals designed to meet a range of needs for children, youth and caregivers (as needed).
Both Roles:
Therapeutic Assessment, Planning & Intervention
- Trauma-informed planning: Design tailored therapeutic treatment plans and regularly collaborate with the client to evaluate progress, goals and overall treatment.
- Partner in treatment planning: Develop collaborative treatment plans and regularly reviews progress, goals, and outcomes with children, youth, and caregivers while participating in clinical consultation.
- Promote adaptive coping skills: Use evidence-based interventions to create culturally responsive client pathways that enrich safety in relationships, guide strategy uses for emotional regulation and healing.
- Deliver flexible services: Provide services across agency office sites and community settings, as required, to meet the diverse needs of children, youth, and families.
Advocacy, Case Management & Community Collaboration
- Provide case management: Lead service coordination where multiple services are involved ensuring appropriate fit.
- Bridge supportive networks: Collaborate with formal legal/social services and informal support networks to ensure client safety and stability.
- Build collaborative partnerships: Work closely with caregivers, schools, and community partners to support coordinated, family-centered care.
- Promote systemic awareness: Ability to deliver public education on intersectional women's mental health, children/youth mental health issues and agency services acting as an ambassador at public events.
Clinical Leadership, Supervision & Professional Growth
- Continuous team improvement: Provide clinical mentorship and support to HPC staff individually and across agency teams.
- Supervise future team members: Offer direct supervision, field placement instruction, and ethical guidance to practicum students.
- Align with team clinical expertise: Engage in regular consultation and cross-team collaboration with staff members.
- Pursue clinical growth: Commit to continuous professional development and seeks clinical consultation to maintain high-quality practice standards.
Compliance, Operations & Agency Evolution
- Uphold professional documentation: Comply with strict clinical reporting, evaluation, and documentation standards of HPC and governing colleges.
- Meet regulatory mandates: Participate in Ministry and Agency monitoring practices to ensure alignment with provincial service objectives.
- Maintain safe environment and workflow: Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety policies while sharing office coverage and general operations duties.
- Contribute to strategic development: Participate in agency committee meetings and HPC evaluation practices to measure service and program efficacy supporting a culture of continuous improvement
- Complete all other clinical or administrative tasks as assigned by leadership.
What You Bring:
- Master’s degree (desired) in an appropriate area for clinical work with woman and their dependents who have experienced violence
- Minimum 2 years of clinical VAW experience. A foundation in trauma treatment modalities (EMDR, TFCBT) considered an asset
- Member of one of the approved colleges for the regulation of the controlled act of Psychotherapy (registration with OCSWSSW or CRPO)
- Experience with the B-SAFER (Brief Spousal Assault Form for the Evaluation of Risk) considered an asset
- Proven experience managing electronic data systems and maintaining highly accurate, comprehensive clinical records
- Demonstrates a strong feminist, gender-based analysis, and trauma and violence informed approach, and practice
- Strong communication skills; interpersonal, oral and written
- Ability to manage competing priorities
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office applications
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle including adequate insurance
- Respect for all aspects of confidentiality
