Door Gurus Edmonton West is hiring an experienced Door Service Technician to complete service, repair and installation work on residential doors, light commercial doors, garage doors, overhead doors and door hardware.
This is a strong opportunity for a carpenter, renovation technician, finishing carpenter, garage door technician, overhead door technician, locksmith, door installer or experienced service-trade professional who wants steady full-time work, supplied equipment, customer-facing service work and room to grow.
This is not a general labour job. We need someone who can troubleshoot, repair, install, communicate professionally with customers and take pride in clean, high-quality work.

What You’ll Be Working On
You will service, repair and install:
- Residential entry doors
- Interior and exterior doors
- Storm doors and screen doors
- Patio doors and sliding doors
- Light commercial doors
- Garage doors and overhead doors
- Door hardware, hinges, locks, closers, rollers, tracks, operators, openers, seals and weatherstripping
You will be trusted to run your day professionally from a stocked service vehicle and represent Door Gurus in customers’ homes and businesses.
What You’ll Do
- Diagnose door, hardware and garage/overhead door issues
- Repair, adjust and install doors, frames, hinges, strikes, thresholds, sweeps and seals
- Install and replace locks, closers, rollers, tracks, operators, openers and related hardware
- Complete light carpentry and finishing work, including shimming, blocking, trimming and fitment adjustments
- Explain repair options clearly to customers
- Recommend additional work only when it genuinely improves safety, reliability or performance
- Take photos, write notes and complete job documentation using a phone or tablet
- Keep the vehicle, tools and job sites clean, organized and professional
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate has:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in carpentry, renovations, construction, door service, garage doors, overhead doors, locksmithing, hardware installation or a similar trade
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Confidence using hand tools and power tools
- Clean finishing habits and attention to detail
- Ability to troubleshoot problems independently
- Good communication skills with customers
- Valid driver’s licence and acceptable driving record
- Ability to work independently in customer homes and businesses
- Comfort using a phone or tablet for photos, notes, estimates and invoicing
- Ability to lift up to 75 lb using safe handling practices
- Comfort with ladders, bending, kneeling, stairs and active field work

Requirements
- Valid driver’s licence and acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass a criminal record check
- Comfortable working in customer homes and businesses
- Comfortable communicating professionally with customers
- Comfortable using a phone or tablet for photos, notes, estimates and invoicing
- References from previous employers required
- English required
- Skilled trade certificate is preferred but not required
Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday to Friday, day shifts
- Some flexibility may be required based on customer needs
- Field service role in Edmonton, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain and surrounding area
