About the position:
McMan’s Specialized Supports for Independence Program is seeking to recruit four (4) dedicated CRW 2 Casual team members to assist adults with mental health disorders, complex behaviors, and addictions, who have experienced homelessness, incarceration, and hospitalization. The adults require support in building stability, independence, and meaningful participation in their community.
Please note that there is possibility for pets to be in the home.
Hours: The hours for this position will vary and can include weekends, evenings, and overnights depending on the needs of the program.
Location: Edmonton, Alberta.
What you’ll do:
· Acting as a strong advocate for the individuals in the community
· Assisting individuals with daily living skills and finding employment
· Assisting with substance abuse issues using a Harm Reduction approach
· Assisting with managing mental health, substance use, health issues and trauma with other community partners in a multidisciplinary team
· Behavior Management/supporting adults with complex needs; support with legal matters
· Program Implementation and development
· Case management, including maintaining and updating working files
· Completing daily documentation and data collection
· Administering daily medication
· Working with individuals and staff team to create, implement, maintain and update personal support plans
What you bring:
· One year of post secondary education in a related field
· Please note that applicants with a degree or diploma in Social Work from a university accredited by the Alberta College of Social Workers are required to be registered with the College (RSW) before starting or obtain registration within three months of hire.
· One year of experience supporting adults or older youth with mental health and addiction concerns, including assessment and support related to suicidal ideation; demonstrated case management experience
· Equivalencies may be considered
· Security Clearance Check; including Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (within the last 6 months)
· Emergency First Aid—Level A CPR + AED
· A valid class 5 licence, driver’s abstract, reliable vehicle and $2Million in auto insurance are required, having a 3-year Class 5 licences will be an asset.
· Familiarity working with high-risk populations, addictions, poverty, houselessness and the justice system
· Ability to build healthy relationships and manage crisis situations
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills; computer/word processing skills
· Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Naloxone Administration, and Trauma Informed Care training are considered an asset
