The Regional Genetics program at Trillium Health Partners-Credit Valley (THP) Site consists of both clinical and laboratory genetic services. Specialists include clinical geneticists (physicians), laboratory cytogenomicists (PhD), genetic counselors (MSc) and technologists (MLT) with subspecialty training in cytogenetic, molecular genetics or both.

The THP Genetics Laboratory is completely integrated and is responsible for constitutional molecular genetics, molecular pathology, cytogenetics and microarray testing of a very broad range of specimen types. In 2018, close to 10,000 genetic specimens were processed and reported by the THP Genetics Laboratory. The laboratory is located in a bright, new, spacious facility with state of the art equipment.

Job Description:
Investigate clinical significance of sequence and copy number variants found by microarray and NGS assays;
Search internal datasets as well as published literature, online mutation databases, or other academic resources for information on variants detected in clinical testing;
Prepare variant assessment summaries;
Interpret clinical significance of variants using ACMGG or CAP/AMP/ASCO Guidelines;
Draft clear and concise clinical genetic testing reports;
Work closely with Laboratory Geneticists to ensure reporting standards are met or exceeded.

Master in medical Genomics OR
BSc and MLT certification in Molecular Genetics and/or Cytogenetics (dual certification is preferred) OR Master of Science (MSc) in Human Genetics and/or Genetic Counselling, plus several years of experience working in a clinical genetics laboratory.
Experience in advanced genetic laboratory applications (array technologies, next generation sequencing)
Excellent written and oral communication in English
Collaborative team player with excellence in oral and written communication
Knowledge of commercially available analytical software (Agilent Alissa, Cartagenia Bench, etc)
Effective critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills
