Position: Financial Analyst
Location: Ayr, Ontario (Near Cambridge, Kitchener/Waterloo)
Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday 8:00AM-4:30PM; Friday 8:00AM-2:00PM
We are seeking an adaptable, team player looking to grow within our high volume finance department as a Financial Analyst.
Reporting to the Controller, you will be responsible for:
- Prepare all financial reports, including cash flow analysis, that provide accurate data for the senior leadership team, regulators, and business units
- Responsible for month end, quarter end, and year end close within defined timelines
- Prepare and/or review balance sheet account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting documents/schedules as required
- Assisting in budget and forecast process and deliver accurate, insightful analysis of financial results against forecast and budget
- Coordinate activities with external Tax Consultant for the preparation of annual income Tax returns
- Prepare business and financial models including “what if” scenarios
- Provide financial expertise to facilitate improvements in profitability
- Identify process improvements via technology or accounting investigation
- Ensure that statutory financial obligations including audit, tax and other government filings are completed in an efficient manner
- Coordinate with external auditors and manage the preparation of year end audit files
- Provide support to Controller on merger & acquisition activities
- Monitoring and updating the financial reporting systems and databases
- Keeping up to date with changes in financial regulations and legislation
Critical Success Factors/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA/ CA
- Previous experience working with a foreign parent company within manufacturing sector (preferably Automotive) and a proven record of influencing process improvement
- Demonstrated ability to be “hands on” and interpret financial data for business units
- Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems preferably with Epicor CMS/Solarsoft coupled with guru level Excel skills
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with US GAAP, IFRS and ASPE accounting frameworks
- Strong focus on using data to drive sound financial decisions
- Proven expertise in reporting trends critical to company performance to senior leaders
- Superior attention to detail with exceptional analytical skills
