We are seeking a dependable, safety-conscious, and hardworking AZ/DZ Truck Driver / Heavy Equipment Float Driver to join our excavation and construction team.
This is a versatile position responsible for safely operating company trucks, transporting heavy equipment and materials to and from jobsites, and assisting with general labour and site operations as required.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in an active construction environment and willing to take on a variety of responsibilities depending on daily operational needs. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, proper equipment handling, reliability, and teamwork.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate AZ and/or DZ licensed trucks in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company safety policies.
- Float and transport heavy equipment between jobsites, the company yard, suppliers, and other locations as required.
- Safely load, unload, secure, and transport excavators, loaders, skid steers, dozers, compactors, attachments, and other construction equipment.
- Properly secure equipment and materials using chains, binders, straps, and other appropriate load securement methods.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and transported equipment.
- Maintain required driver logs, inspection reports, CVOR documentation, and other transportation records.
- Transport aggregates, construction materials, equipment, attachments, and supplies to and from jobsites as required.
- Coordinate with supervisors, operators, and other employees regarding equipment moves, material deliveries, and jobsite requirements.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks and trailers using appropriate equipment.
- Operate heavy equipment when required and when qualified to do so.
- Identify and report vehicle, trailer, or equipment maintenance and safety concerns.
- Perform minor troubleshooting and basic maintenance where appropriate.
- Keep assigned trucks, trailers, and equipment clean, organized, and in safe operating condition.
- Perform general labour duties as required, including assisting crews with site preparation, cleanup, material handling, grading, pipe work, excavation-related activities, and other construction tasks.
- Assist equipment operators and site crews when driving or floating duties are not required.
- Follow all company policies, jobsite requirements, and applicable health and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on operational and project requirements.
Requirements
- Valid AZ and/or DZ driver's licence with a clean and acceptable driving record.
- Previous commercial driving experience, preferably within excavation, construction, heavy civil, or a related industry.
- Experience floating and transporting heavy construction equipment is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of proper equipment loading, weight distribution, and load securement practices.
- Experience operating heavy equipment is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with commercial trucks, trailers, and basic vehicle/equipment maintenance.
- Strong understanding of transportation, construction, and jobsite safety requirements.
- Ability to perform physical and general labour duties when required.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a crew.
- Dependable, punctual, and willing to adapt to changing daily schedules and jobsite requirements.
