Summary
We are seeking a a professional, observant, and customer-focused Loss Prevention Officer to join our team for an established bakery and retail client.
This position requires a plain clothes presence, allowing you to discreetly observe customer activity, identify potential theft, and help maintain a safe and welcoming shopping environment. The ideal candidate is patient, attentive, and capable of recognizing suspicious behaviour while providing outstanding customer service.

Loss Prevention Officer (Plain Clothes)
Location: St Clair Ave West, Toronto
Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct covert loss prevention operations while dressed in plain clothes.
- Maintain constant awareness of customer and employee activity throughout the bakery and retail areas.
- Observe, identify, and document suspicious behaviour that may indicate shoplifting, fraud, or other dishonest activity.
- Monitor high-value merchandise and areas identified as having elevated theft risks.
- Deter theft through a professional, discreet, and visible presence when appropriate.
- Conduct regular patrols throughout the bakery, retail floor, entrances, exits, and surrounding property.
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and assisting customers when appropriate.
- Maintain a courteous, respectful, and professional attitude with all patrons and staff.
- Accurately document incidents, observations, and daily activities using digital reporting systems.
- Immediately communicate significant incidents to management and the Argus Operations Centre.
- Work closely with store management to identify emerging theft trends and recommend proactive loss prevention strategies.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding investigations and security procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous Loss Prevention or Retail Security experience is preferred.
- Strong observation and surveillance skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and discreet in dynamic retail environments.
- Strong report writing and documentation skills.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
- Professional appearance suitable for plain clothes assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
The ability to speak Italian, Greek, or Portuguese is considered a significant asset, as this position involves interacting with a diverse customer base.
