Licensed 309A Journeyperson Electrician – Commercial
Compatible Electric Inc. is a growing electrical contractor providing high-quality commercial electrical installation and service throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
The majority of our work is in the commercial construction and renovation sector. We take pride in completing projects safely, efficiently, on schedule and with a high level of workmanship.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to add 2–3 Licensed 309A Journeyperson Electricians to our team.
The Position
We are looking for experienced electricians with a strong mechanical mindset who are comfortable working independently as well as part of a crew.
The ideal candidate has solid commercial construction experience, takes ownership of their work, communicates well and is capable of working with apprentices, general contractors, customers and other trades.
This position is well suited to someone who wants more than simply being assigned a task. We are looking for electricians who can look at a set of drawings, understand the scope, plan their work and get the job done properly.
Responsibilities
- Perform commercial electrical construction, renovation and service work throughout the GTA
- Install conduit, cable, distribution equipment, lighting, controls and branch wiring systems
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications and single-line diagrams
- Layout and complete installations with limited supervision
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment
- Coordinate work with general contractors, customers and other trades
- Work with and provide direction to electrical apprentices when required
- Coordinate materials and communicate with suppliers when required
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
- Follow Compatible Electric and customer health and safety policies
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with customers, inspectors, suppliers and co-workers
- Take ownership of assigned work and communicate job progress with the project team
Qualifications
- Valid 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician Licence
- Strong commercial construction experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Experience with EMT conduit installation and commercial electrical distribution systems
- Ability to read and work from electrical drawings
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Working at Heights certification
- WHMIS certification
- Good understanding of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code
- Commitment to safe, professional and high-quality workmanship
Preferred Experience
Experience with any of the following would be considered an asset:
- Commercial tenant fit-outs and renovations
- Banks, offices and retail environments
- Electrical distribution and service upgrades
- Lighting and lighting control systems
- Troubleshooting and service work
- Leading small crews or mentoring apprentices

Preferred Area of Hire
York Region and surrounding areas are preferred due to the location of our shop and the majority of our projects throughout the GTA.

Pay: $40.00-$46.00 per hour
