Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care and be skilled in various nursing practices. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients in diverse settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, and home care environments. The RPN will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care, including administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health management.
- Assist in triaging patients based on their medical needs and urgency.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform procedures such as IV insertion, catheterization, and phlebotomy as required.
- Participate in infection control measures and maintain a clean environment.
- Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and provide emotional support.
Skills
The following skills are essential or preferred for the Registered Practical Nurse position:
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Experience in critical care, acute care, long-term care, assisted living, or hospice settings.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), and CPT coding.
- Familiarity with various nursing specialties including pediatrics, geriatrics, emergency medicine, and internal medicine.
- Competence in patient assessment, medication administration, and basic life support techniques.
- Ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring memory care (including Alzheimer's and dementia).
- Experience with pain management techniques and acute pain management strategies.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare teams.
