About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver to support an independent senior woman living in an apartment in Port Perry. She is mobile and moves around her home without difficulty, but experiences chronic back pain and limited hand function following carpal tunnel surgery. Her late husband recently passed away, and she previously received helpful support from a PSW through Ontario Health at Home. She values reliability and consistency in her care.
Responsibilities:
This role focuses primarily on light housekeeping and household management tasks that are difficult due to the client's back pain and hand limitations. Responsibilities include:
- Changing bed linens and making the bed
- Light cleaning tasks such as dusting (including china cabinet), cleaning the stove, and organizing the refrigerator
- Taking out garbage to the outdoor dumpster
- General tidying and household organization
- Occasionally applying topical pain relief (A535) to the client's back when needed
- Tasks will vary by visit based on the client's needs that week
This is NOT a personal care role. The client is fully independent with all activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting.

The ideal caregiver will:
- Make the client feel comfortable and at ease in her home
- Be reliable and consistent with scheduled visits
- Take initiative and anticipate needs without being asked
- Communicate clearly about visit plans and any changes
- Have experience supporting seniors with mobility or pain limitations
- Speak English fluently
- Be comfortable with light housekeeping duties
- Occasionally provide transportation for errands or appointments
Schedule:
This position starts at 2 hours every other week (biweekly visits). The family anticipates care needs may increase in frequency over time as the client's situation evolves. Flexibility and willingness to grow with the family's needs is appreciated. The client lives in Port Perry in the Bigelow apartment building and prefers consistent visit times that work for both parties.
