Banff Centre is in search of a Program Manager who will be responsible for the project management of an assigned portfolio of projects primarily related to Cultural Leadership program delivery.
The Cultural Leadership portfolio seeks to create an environment within which participant leaders can explore and push leadership and innovative boundaries, and develop new organizational skills and competencies to develop both personally and professionally.
A critical success metric is translating the vision of the director into an achievable, executable, program within the constraints of Banff Centre’s facilities, physical location, and staff resources.
The program manager of this portfolio should have a comfort and desire to build relationships with IBPOC communities and be comfortable working with elders and knowledge keepers.
This position will be charged with the project management, implementation, and quality control of assigned programs and events in alignment with a strong project management approach that supports the delivery of high-quality programs.
Reporting to the Director of Program Operations, below are some key accountabilities:
- Accountable for documenting the project plan, scope of the program, scheduling, project deliverables, resourcing, quality control and implementation of leadership programming at Banff Centre as assigned, based on program and scheduling priorities determined between Arts, Leadership, Operations, Development, Finance, and Program Administration.
- Manage the day-to-day project management for the assigned programs, aligning the programs and associated events with Banff Centre’s values and strategic objectives, ensuring that all programs are built and delivered in line with Banff Centre’s design signature—transformative learning experiences for every participant.
- Develop processes for regularly communicating and reporting on program milestones, key deliverables, updates, and risk mitigation in consultation with the Director of Program Operations, as well as in discussions with the Arts and Leadership teams and Operations Teams.
- Align resource requests, planning, and allocation for programs within approved plans and budgets as well as within established deadlines and in consultation with delivery areas.
- This position must understand and respect the planning and operating needs of facilities, site-specific locations, production and co-ordination needs, and hospitality standing operating procedures.
- Coordinate and/or participate in a regular process of program and events planning review and evaluation that ensures the highest ethical standards in project implementation activities and make appropriate recommendations as appropriate.
- A Degree or Diploma in a related field or equivalent professional experience
- Professional experience in related management roles
- Experience working in a unionized environment
- Demonstrated leadership in promoting a safe and healthy workplace, and experience in developing risk assessments and safe work practices
- Working knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, standards, best practices, and implementation of the same
- Proven project management skills with the capability to manage multiple projects
- Demonstrated experience with technical assessments and budgeting of projects
- Effective under pressure with strength in shifting priorities.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- High level of self-motivation with a commitment to client/participant service excellence and a willingness to work flexible hours
- Proficient with the Microsoft suite of products (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Due to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends.
- In accordance with the terms of employment governing Management/PSP employees, this is a salaried, full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period.
- The salary range for this position is $67,367 – $100,039, based on experience.
