Can You Teach, Connect With People and Help Build Business?
Security Guard Course Inc. (SGC) is expanding our training operations into Winnipeg, and we're looking for the right person to help us build our presence in Manitoba.
This isn't a traditional instructor position.
We're looking for someone who can deliver an engaging classroom experience, manage our local training facility and, when not teaching, get out into the Winnipeg business community and help us grow.
The ideal candidate brings together three things:
Security industry experience. Training ability. Business development instincts.
Even better? You're already a Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor.
The Role
As our Winnipeg Training & Business Development Manager, you will be SGC and One4All's primary representative on the ground in Winnipeg.
Your time will be divided between training, local operations and business development.
Security Guard Training
You will deliver the 5 day Manitoba Security Guard Training Program in an instructor-led classroom environment.
We don't want someone who simply reads from a training manual.
We want you to make 40 hours of mandatory training interesting, practical and memorable through discussion, scenarios, real-world examples and student participation.
Our students should leave understanding not only what the rules are, but how those rules apply to the realities of frontline security work.
First Aid & CPR Training
Ideally, you will also be a Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor.
Through One4All First Aid & CPR Services, you will deliver First Aid, CPR and AED training to individuals and organizations in the Winnipeg market.
Being currently certified as a Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor would be a significant advantage.
Business Development
When you aren't teaching, we don't expect you to sit behind a desk waiting for the next class.
You'll help us grow.
That could include:
- Developing relationships with Winnipeg employers and security companies
- Building referral relationships with employment agencies and community organizations
- Introducing One4All First Aid & CPR Services to local businesses
- Developing corporate and group First Aid training opportunities
- Promoting SGC's additional professional and security training programs
- Meeting prospective clients and referral partners
- Identifying new training opportunities in the Manitoba market
- Representing SGC and One4All professionally in the Winnipeg business community
You don't need to be a stereotypical salesperson.
You do need to be comfortable meeting people, developing relationships, identifying opportunities and following through.
Local Training Operations
You'll also take ownership of the day-to-day operation of our Winnipeg classroom, including:
- Preparing the classroom for scheduled training
- Maintaining training and First Aid equipment
- Monitoring supplies and inventory
- Ensuring the facility presents professionally
- Maintaining required classroom and training documentation
- Communicating with our centralized Student Experience Advisors to provide students with a smooth experience
- Providing feedback to help us continually improve our Winnipeg operation
Our centralized team handles much of the routine student administration and customer support so that your non-teaching time can remain focused on training quality and growing the Winnipeg market.
Who We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have a combination of:
- Security, law enforcement, military, corrections, loss prevention, investigations or related professional experience
- Experience delivering security guard training or other adult education
- Strong classroom presentation and facilitation skills
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication
- The ability to engage adult learners from very different backgrounds
- Confidence managing a classroom of approximately 20 students
- Strong organization and reliability
- Comfort developing professional relationships with businesses and community partners
- A practical, entrepreneurial mindset
- A genuine interest in helping new security professionals succeed
Significant Assets
- Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor certification
- Previous Manitoba Security Guard Training Program instruction
- Manitoba security industry experience
- Corporate training experience
- Business development, account management or sales experience
- Experience teaching de-escalation, loss prevention, use-of-force or other professional security training
Don't check every box?
We're interested in finding an exceptional trainer, communicator and local representative, not simply the résumé with the longest list of qualifications.
How Success Will Be Measured
This position isn't measured simply by the number of hours spent in the classroom.
Success will include:
- Delivering consistently excellent training
- Growing Security Guard Training enrolment
- Growing public and corporate First Aid training
- Developing new Winnipeg employer and referral relationships
- Generating additional training opportunities
- Maintaining a professional, well-run local training operation
- Helping establish SGC and One4All as recognized training providers in Winnipeg
