Part-time December 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the netClé Tech Support roles are integral in the implementation of a new assistive technology device to enable people with physical disabilities to access and engage in the digital world. The Tech Support roles will be the front line of engagement with clients in four (4) pilot project communities, introducing the new assistive technology product, and providing support in three interventions as needed to troubleshoot and make adjustments as necessary to usability. The Tech Support works collaboratively with the netClé Researcher and netClé Project Coordinator during the implementation of the project.


  • Attend an orientation session (possibly by Skype) about Tetra, the netClé project and to meet with team members
  • Attend a training session to learn about netClé and the research component of the project
  • Work with the netClé Researcher to collect data
  • Work with Tetra’s Director of Operations and the netClé Project Coordinator to determine timeline of milestones and report on progress (attending project team meetings as needed)
  • Report on progress of the research component and be available to pilot teams regarding implementation
  • Participate in three interventions during pilot period
  • Conduct data analysis and assist the researcher to prepare the final report

Qualifications & Notes

  • current or recently retired Tech Support:
  • experience with Raspberry Pi/Raspbian and Google Home technology
  • basic knowledge of electronics related to computers and embedded systems (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry Pi)
  • experience configuring and programming Arduino platforms using the Arduino IDE
  • experience configuring and programming Raspberry Pi platforms using the Raspbian operating system; able to work with command line interface
  • experience leveraging commercial and open source tools (e.g. Google Home, SNIPS, Node-RED) to create home automation and assistive technology solutions In addition to the above Tech Support criteria:
  • Experience working with people with physical disabilities, particularly in support of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices
  • Familiarity with Exceptional client/customer service track record
