Web Design Lead (Contract)

Texas Instruments is seeking a contractor who is an experienced Front-end Web Design Lead to spearhead the overall technical direction on TI.com while giving guidance and motivating a team of Front-end Designers to create the best functionalities for our customers on TI.com. Your expertise in front-end coding and best practices, passion for process development and optimization, and excellence in team leadership will bring value to our design team focused on various aspects of our company B2B website including: application design, component design systems, and eCommerce. You will:

  • Lead a team of Front-end Designers, oversee their work and provide functional feedback in regular code reviews and approvals
  • Elevate the team by researching new, advanced technologies
  • Share and educate Front-end Designers on new ideas and lead the creation of proof of concepts
  • Align regularly with strategists and other specialists
  • Be a liaison with SA, DevOps and back-end developers
  • Create/maintain various documentation such as standards, best practices and industry trends
  • Define, develop and improve processes, set direction and oversee consistent practices for CSS/SASS and HTML, organize Bitbucket branches
  • Articulate trade-offs between different design and implementation solutions
  • Translate project requirements or concepts into prototypes
  • Generate testing plans and participate in test planning
  • Update/contribute to design system

Must have:

  • 3 year experience in leading and building a team of Front-end Designers, provide direction and regular feedback
  • Strategic, critical thinker who always look for ways to improve functionality with excellent attention to details
  • Excellent problem solving and task management skills, not afraid to be assertive when required
  • Technical vision to see the big picture of our technical needs, formulate strategic vision/plan
  • Ability to listen actively to resolve conflicts, negotiate and compromise when needed
  • Proactive and curious, goal-setting for self and team
  • Strong communication skill to influence, pitch ideas, get buy-ins and communicate complex ideas in a simplified manner
  • 3 + year experience in advanced level of HTML, CSS/SASS, JS, best practices, optimization and code efficiency
  • 2 year experience with GIT, repo/branch management and comfortable with Node.js and NPM
  • 2 year experience in development languages and frameworks, also in research and evaluate software, architecture and other technical solutions and provide recommendations
  • Up-to-date understanding of front end coding practices
  • Great understanding of analytics and A/B testing
