Position Summary
The Quality Control & Production Coordinator is responsible for coordinating manufacturing activities while ensuring all BakeMark products meet established quality, food safety, and regulatory standards. This position works closely with the Regional Quality Manager and General Manager to maximize production efficiency, maintain inventory accuracy, ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and support continuous improvement initiatives.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining product quality, supporting production scheduling, leading quality assurance activities, and helping create a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesManufacturing Coordination
- Coordinate daily manufacturing activities to maximize productivity and inventory turnover while meeting customer demand.
- Post daily finished goods production.
- Maintain and promote BakeMark Best Practices throughout manufacturing operations.
- Monitor production efficiency and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Conduct and coordinate inventory cycle counts and investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Record and report daily employee productivity.
- Investigate production batch variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure manufacturing equipment and facility maintenance issues are reported promptly.
- Coordinate facility inspections and audits and follow up on corrective actions.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all manufacturing processes and product formulations.
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Perform all required quality control testing on raw materials and finished products.
- Ensure all manufactured products meet established quality specifications.
- Record and accurately report all quality control results to the Regional Quality Manager.
- Recommend improvements to manufacturing processes that affect product quality.
- Verify that ingredients meet required quality standards before production.
- Maintain complete ingredient lot traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
- Ensure labels comply with all applicable government regulations.
- Issue Certificates of Analysis for manufactured products as required.
- Participate in HACCP implementation and ongoing food safety programs.
- Support supplier audit programs and private label quality initiatives.
- Conduct regular sanitation inspections and GMP audits of the manufacturing facility.
- Ensure corrective actions are documented and completed.
- Promote excellent housekeeping and food safety practices throughout the facility.
Documentation & Administration
- Maintain complete and accurate quality control records.
- Maintain product formulations and recipes as directed by the Research & Development department.
- Update existing product labels as required.
- Prepare periodic quality and production reports, including recommendations and action plans.
- Order and maintain quality control supplies and laboratory materials.
Leadership & Human Resources
- Lead, coach, train, and motivate manufacturing employees (up to 10 team members).
- Ensure compliance with all GMP, food safety, and company policies.
- Address employee performance and workplace issues in accordance with BakeMark policies.
- Schedule manufacturing labour to meet operational and productivity goals.
- Support the Joint Health & Safety Committee and ensure compliance with applicable provincial safety legislation.
- Promote a positive, safe, and respectful work environment.
Budgeting, Reporting & Communication
- Operate within approved departmental budgets.
- Provide production and quality information required for divisional reporting.
- Submit facility audit reports and employee performance summaries to the General Manager and Quality Assurance team.
- Communicate effectively with production, purchasing, warehouse, sales, and management teams.
QualificationsEducation
- Diploma in Food Science or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
Experience
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of quality assurance systems, GMP, HACCP, and food safety programs.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and production scheduling.
- Experience with inventory control and production reporting is considered an asset.

Pay: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
