POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Library Assistant Manager, this position will primarily be responsible for handling Library collection materials, assisting with Library programming and outreach, and maintaining Library tidiness. This position works will all Library staff and patrons.
WORK RESPONSIBILITIES
Library Collections
- Shelve Library materials in accordance with the Library’s classification systems
- Reorganize the Library collection as assigned
- Weed the Library collection as assigned
Programming and Outreach
- Assist with Library programs and outreach events as assigned
- Assist with preparing programming and outreach materials as assigned
- Tidy the children’s area, Library sitting areas, and the staff room on a regular basis
- Assist with recycling as assigned
- Undertake other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Enrolled in High School with completion of at least Grade 9
- Enrolment in Post-Secondary studies is considered an asset
- Experience working in a library setting or customer service environment is preferred
- Working knowledge of computers and systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Satisfactory background screening is required for this position if over 18 years of age including a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check

Hours
Able to work evenings and weekends as required.
Physical Effort
May assist patrons with reaching for library materials from shelves ranging from 5 cm to 2 meters from floor level, carrying of library materials (up to 10 kgs) across the Library; and pushing or pulling carts weighing 20 to 150 kgs.Able to performheavy and manual lifting, bending, reaching of materials, pushing and pulling library carts and bins, and frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Repetitive motions and performance of general office duties.
Travel
No travel required for this position.
Work Environment
Moderate exposure to the public in a service provision capacity. Potential exposure to client volatility dealing with the public.

Pay: $19.49-$21.12 per hour
