Algonquin Bridge is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Drafter to join our team. Reporting to the Engineering Department, the Drafter will be responsible for developing and preparing engineering drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks while ensuring all design drawings conform to specifications, engineering standards, and project requirements.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting bridge projects by creating customer approval drawings and internal fabrication drawings, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
Develop and prepare engineering drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other technical data.
Prepare detailed customer approval drawings and internal fabrication drawings for bridge projects.
Review and verify design drawings to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and design requirements.
Operate computer-assisted drafting software, including AutoCAD 2D and 3D SolidWorks.
Interpret engineering designs, drawings, specifications, project documents, and tender requirements.
Prepare cost and material estimates, bills of materials, and project schedules.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and project teams to ensure project requirements are met.
Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives.
Communicate project status and progress updates effectively to stakeholders.
Identify and resolve design and drafting issues in a timely manner.
Diploma or Degree in Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, or a related field.
Minimum 4 years of AutoCAD drafting experience, including standardized drafting practices.
Strong ability to interpret and apply project specifications and tender documents.
Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD 2D and Microsoft Excel.
Working knowledge of 3D SolidWorks and parametric modelling.
Experience preparing fabrication and approval drawings, preferably for structural steel or bridge-related projects.
Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
