Le Méridien Toronto Pinnacle Hotel is seeking an experienced, strategic and hands-on Director of Operations to join our pre-opening executive leadership team.
Located in downtown Toronto, our new 223-room hotel will deliver a distinctive guest experience inspired by Le Méridien’s European heritage and contemporary style. The hotel will feature multiple restaurants, a spa, and approximately 12,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the hotel’s operational culture, build high-performing teams and establish the standards required for a successful opening and long-term performance.
Position Overview
Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Operations is responsible for leading and coordinating the hotel’s day-to-day operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, strong financial performance and consistent compliance with Le Méridien and Marriott brand standards.
During the pre-opening phase, the Director of Operations will lead operational planning, departmental setup, recruitment, training, policy and procedure development, systems implementation and opening-readiness activities. Following the opening, the Director will oversee operational performance, support department leaders and drive service excellence, productivity, profitability and continuous improvement across the hotel.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the General Manager to develop and execute the hotel’s operational strategy, business plan and service culture.
- Lead the pre-opening operational critical path, ensuring key milestones, inspections, training and readiness activities are completed on schedule.
- Recruit, develop, coach and support department leaders and their teams, fostering accountability, engagement and collaboration.
- Coordinate the setup of operating departments, including staffing plans, policies, procedures, service standards, supplies, equipment and systems.
- Lead opening-readiness inspections, operational rehearsals and departmental walkthroughs.
- Oversee daily hotel operations across Rooms, Housekeeping, Engineering, Food and Beverage, Banquets, Spa and other guest-service areas.
- Ensure consistent compliance with Le Méridien and Marriott brand standards, quality-assurance requirements and company policies.
- Monitor guest satisfaction, respond to escalated concerns and ensure effective service recovery and follow-up.
- Review operating budgets, forecasts, labour productivity, departmental expenses and financial results with department leaders.
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue, profitability, efficiency and the overall guest experience.
- Promote effective communication and coordination among all hotel departments and with ownership, corporate partners and key vendors.
- Establish and maintain strong operational controls, reporting practices and performance-management processes.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, emergency preparedness, security, accessibility, employment and other regulatory requirements.
- Support procurement, contract management and vendor performance for operational products and services.
- Participate in management-on-duty coverage and remain visible and engaged throughout the hotel’s operations.

Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of seven years of progressive hotel leadership experience, including senior operational responsibility in a full-service, upper-upscale or luxury hotel.
- A diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Pre-opening or hotel-opening experience is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with Marriott or another major international hotel brand is preferred.
- Strong operational knowledge across Rooms, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage, Engineering and other hotel guest-service functions.
- Proven ability to lead multiple departments, develop leaders and build high-performing teams.
- Strong financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, labour management, cost control and performance analysis.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and remain composed and effective in a fast-paced pre-opening and operating environment.
- Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays, based on operational requirements.
