Account Manager (Client Success) — Home Builder Marketers
Location: Remote (Canada or US) | Schedule: Flexible, work-from-home | Type: Full-time Compensation: Performance-based — a percentage of the revenue you manage (uncapped)
You don't want a job. You want a ceiling you set yourself.
Most account manager roles hand you a salary, a stack of clients, and a cap on what you'll ever earn. Work harder, manage more, deliver better results — and your paycheck stays exactly the same.
We built this role the opposite way.
At Home Builder Marketers, you earn a percentage of the revenue you manage. Manage 20 accounts, earn well. Manage 30, earn more. The harder and smarter you work, the more you make. There is no lid on it. Your effort writes your paycheck.
If you're organized, you love people, and you've been waiting for a company that actually rewards how good you are — keep reading.
Who we are
Home Builder Marketers is a niche digital marketing agency serving custom home builders, high-end remodelers, and pool builders across North America. We build websites, run Facebook and Google advertising, and execute SEO that turns local builders into the obvious choice in their market.
We don't just talk about company culture — we fund it. Last year we flew our entire account management team to Miami for in-person training. We run a fully-paid annual team retreat. We pour into the people who work here because we know the team is the product.
The role in one line
You are the bridge between our clients and our delivery team — the single point of contact who keeps clients informed, keeps the team accountable, keeps results moving, and serves as their trusted marketing advisor.
You will not be doing the fulfillment work. You won't be designing the websites, writing the ads, or executing the SEO. But you do need to understand all of it. Your job is to make sure the right work gets done at the right time, that clients always know where things stand, and that every account feels guided by someone who actually knows marketing.
You are the face of HBM to the client, and the voice of the client inside HBM.
What you'll own
- All client communication. You're the relationship. Clients come to you, and you bring their needs to the team.
- Team accountability. You assign, track, and follow up on what the delivery team commits to — and you make sure deadlines are hit.
- Quality assurance. Before work reaches a client, you've reviewed it. You catch what shouldn't go out.
- Onboarding. You bring new clients in, set expectations, and start the relationship strong.
- Offboarding. When a client moves on, you handle it cleanly and professionally.
- Showing results. You translate the team's work into clear wins the client can see and feel.
- Marketing guidance. This role is part account manager, part consultant. We deliver websites, Facebook ads, Google ads, and SEO — but clients lean on you for the bigger picture. You nudge them in the right direction on the things outside our scope too: social media, generating more Google reviews, reputation, and overall marketing strategy. You don't have to execute these, but you do need to know enough to coach.
- Client meetings. Weekly meetings with large accounts. Biweekly or monthly with smaller ones. On camera, professional, and prepared.
- Upsells. When there's a natural opportunity to grow an account, you spot it and you close it — and you earn commission when you do.
What a day looks like
- 8:30 AM Central, every morning: A required 15-minute team standup. Quick, focused, then you're off to run your day.
- The rest is yours. Flexible hours, work from home, structured around your client meetings and your team check-ins.
- On camera, multiple times a day. Video calls with clients and team are core to this role. If being on camera drains you, this isn't your seat. If it energizes you, you'll thrive.
How you get paid
This is a sliding scale built to reward output.
- You earn a percentage of the monthly recurring revenue you manage.
- The average account manager handles 20 to 30 accounts.
- You also earn commission on any upsells you generate within your book of clients.
- There is no cap. Your income scales with the number of accounts you can manage well and the growth you drive.
The math is simple: more accounts managed well plus more upsells closed equals more income. You're not waiting on a raise. You're building one.
Seth — drop in the exact percentage-of-managed-revenue figure and the average per-account value here before posting. Your note said "~25 managed MRR" per account, which I read as ~$2,500/mo MRR rather than $25 — confirm the number so candidates can run their own earnings math. Indeed postings with a clear earnings range convert far better.
Benefits and perks
- Paid vacation. Two weeks in year one. Doubles to four weeks in years two through four.
- Annual all-expenses-paid retreat (you cover flights, we cover everything else).
- Annual in-person training — last year it was Miami, and we plan to keep it going.
- Benefits coming within 18 months.
- Extensive, ongoing training. We invest heavily in developing our people.
- Fully remote, flexible schedule.
- A genuinely outstanding company culture built on pouring into the team.
Who you are
Marketing fluency is the foundation of this entire role. Everything we do revolves around marketing strategy, and clients will look to you as their advisor — not just their point of contact. You can't guide a builder's marketing if you don't understand marketing yourself. So this isn't a "nice to have." It's the floor.
Beyond that, you are:
- Ridiculously organized. You track dozens of moving pieces without dropping any.
- A natural communicator. Clear in writing, confident on camera, calm under pressure.
- Comfortable being the face. You like being the person clients trust and the team relies on.
- Tech-fluent. You know your way around a computer, you pick up new software fast, and you have a working understanding of how AI tools function.
- Accountable, and good at holding others accountable — firmly and kindly.
- Self-directed. Flexible hours only work if you manage yourself well.
Required
- A genuine background in marketing — this is foundational, not optional.
- Hands-on understanding of Facebook advertising and websites (how they're built, what makes them convert).
- The ability to learn ClickUp and Slack fast (we use them daily) and comfort being on camera for video calls.
Ideally / bonus
- Experience with GoHighLevel (GHL).
- Working knowledge of Google Search Console (GSC) and Google Ads.
- An understanding of the construction industry, specifically home building and custom home building — this lets you speak your clients' language from day one.
- Prior account management, client success, or marketing agency experience.
- Comfort working on a Central Time schedule.
What happens if you take this seat
You stop trading hours for a fixed salary and start earning in proportion to the value you create. You work from home, on a flexible schedule, with a team that flies you to Miami and pours into your growth. You build a book of clients who trust you, a paycheck that climbs as you do, and a career with a ceiling you control.
What happens if you don't? You stay where most account managers stay — capped, underpaid for how good you are, and wondering what it would've been like to bet on yourself.

- How comfortable you are being on camera multiple times a day.
We read every application from a real person who applies thoughtfully. If you're the kind of account manager who's been waiting for a company that rewards effort — we want to meet you.
