We are seeking a highly skilled and licensed Mechatronics Engineer with Professional Engineer (PEng) designation in Ontario to lead the design, development, and execution of custom-fabricated heavy industrial projects. Responsibilities
- Lead the design and system integration of heavy industrial machinery by applying principles of electrical, mechanical, and software engineering.
- Develop detailed schematics, control system architectures, and technical documentation using CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and SolidWorks.
- Program and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs), firmware, and embedded systems utilizing languages such as C++, Python, Perl, and scripting tools.
- Conduct signal processing analysis and FPGA development to optimize control algorithms for high-performance applications.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to oversee fabrication processes ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Utilize simulation tools like ANSYS and MATLAB to validate system performance under operational conditions.
- Perform debugging and testing of electrical circuits, firmware, and mechanical components to ensure reliability and safety.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive system designs that integrate electrical schematics with mechanical layouts.
- Apply knowledge of industry standards in electrical engineering and manufacturing practices to ensure compliance throughout project lifecycle.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing system performance data and implementing enhancements.
Requirements
- A valid PEng license in Ontario with proven experience in heavy industrial project delivery.
- Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by expertise in electrical engineering principles.
- Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and SolidWorks for detailed design work.
- Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), firmware development, signal processing, FPGA programming, and embedded systems.
- Familiarity with simulation tools such as ANSYS and MATLAB for system validation.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes relevant to custom-fabricated heavy industrial equipment.
- Ability to interpret schematics, electrical diagrams, and control system architectures accurately.
- Experience working with ARM microcontrollers or processors is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills for debugging hardware/software issues within complex systems.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
