Service Advisor – Midas Newmarket
Midas Newmarket is looking for an experienced, motivated, and career-focused Service Advisor to join our team.
This is a leadership position within the shop and goes well beyond simply assisting customers at the front counter. The Service Advisor plays a major role in controlling the day-to-day workflow of the service bays, coordinating technicians, communicating with customers, ordering parts, preparing and presenting estimates, and helping ensure the shop operates efficiently and profitably.
The Service Advisor is responsible for taking ownership of the customer service process from the initial write-up through diagnosis, quoting, authorization, repair, invoicing, and final vehicle delivery.
We are looking for someone who is confident making decisions, understands automotive repair and maintenance, can manage multiple priorities at once, and is comfortable leading the workflow of a busy automotive repair facility.
Most importantly, we are looking for a long-term employee who wants to grow with our team for years to come. This position is intended for someone who is future-focused, wants to develop within the automotive industry, and sees themselves building a long-term career within the Midas community.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a leader within the shop and help manage the daily workflow of the service bays and technicians.
- Control and prioritize vehicles through the shop to help maintain an efficient and productive workflow.
- Coordinate and assign work based on technician ability, workload, vehicle requirements, parts availability, and shop priorities.
- Greet customers professionally and accurately identify their vehicle concerns, maintenance needs, and expectations.
- Create and manage repair orders from initial write-up through completion.
- Communicate customer concerns clearly to technicians and ensure appropriate inspections and diagnostics are performed.
- Review technician findings and prepare accurate estimates for recommended repairs and maintenance.
- Price and quote repair jobs, including labour, parts, shop supplies, and other applicable charges.
- Present estimates and repair recommendations to customers clearly and confidently and obtain authorization before work proceeds.
- Maintain communication with customers throughout the repair process regarding pricing, additional recommendations, delays, parts availability, and expected completion.
- Ensure technicians have approved work available and help minimize unnecessary downtime in the service bays.
- Order automotive parts from suppliers and work with vendors to obtain appropriate pricing, availability, quality, and delivery times.
- Verify that correct parts have been ordered and received and coordinate returns, warranties, credits, and incorrect parts when necessary.
- Work closely with technicians when additional repairs or concerns are identified during inspections or repairs.
- Recommend appropriate maintenance and repairs based on vehicle condition, manufacturer recommendations, safety, and customer needs.
- Follow up on declined services and help build long-term relationships with customers.
- Ensure completed repair orders and invoices are accurate before vehicle delivery.
- Process customer payments and accurately handle cash, debit, credit, and other approved payment methods.
- Professionally address and help resolve customer concerns or service-related issues.
- Maintain organized customer records, estimates, repair orders, invoices, and vehicle service histories.
- Help maintain strong shop productivity, customer satisfaction, sales performance, and overall operational efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding workflow, staffing concerns, customer issues, parts issues, sales opportunities, and other matters affecting shop operations.
- Support and provide direction to other front-counter and shop employees when required.
- Maintain a professional, organized, and customer-focused front counter and work environment.

What We're Looking For
- We are looking for someone who understands that a strong Service Advisor is one of the key people responsible for keeping an automotive shop running properly.
- You should be comfortable taking ownership of the service process—managing the front counter, keeping technicians productive, controlling the flow of vehicles through the bays, pricing and presenting repairs, ordering parts, communicating with customers, and making sure approved work moves forward efficiently.
- This position is best suited for someone who can lead, communicate, sell, organize, and make decisions, rather than someone looking strictly for a customer service or receptionist role.
- We are specifically looking for a candidate who is future-focused and interested in staying with our organization for years to come. Our goal is to develop a dependable long-term member of our team who can grow alongside the business, take on increasing responsibility, and continue developing their career within the Midas community.
Compensation & Future Bonus Potential
- This position offers the opportunity for additional sales-based bonus earning potential in the future.
- Future eligibility for bonus compensation may depend on factors including individual and shop sales metrics, performance, productivity, customer service, contribution to the business, and tenure with the company.
- Bonus compensation is not automatically guaranteed as part of the position and may be introduced or adjusted based on performance, eligibility, business needs, and management discretion. Any applicable bonus structure, targets, and eligibility requirements will be communicated separately.
- For the right individual, this position offers an opportunity to grow their responsibilities and earning potential as they establish themselves as a valuable long-term member of the team.
Long-Term Career Opportunity
- Midas Newmarket is looking to invest in someone who wants to build a career, not simply fill a position.
- We value employees who take ownership of their responsibilities, care about the performance of the entire shop, continuously improve their skills, and want to become an important part of the business over time.
- Candidates should be looking beyond their next job and be interested in developing within Midas and the automotive service industry for the years ahead.
Additional Responsibilities
- The responsibilities listed above are intended to provide a general overview of the position and are not an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or expectations.
- Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the shop and day-to-day operations.
- Further details regarding the position, responsibilities, expectations, scheduling, compensation, performance requirements, and potential future incentive opportunities will be discussed during the interview process.
