Position overview
We have a 1-year term, full-time opportunity for a Manager, Baggage Operations in the Baggage Operations Department. Reporting to the Acting Director, Baggage Operations, the successful candidate is responsible for the development, implementation and facilitation of new and existing programs and strategies related to Baggage Operations. The role will deliver projects, provide strategic guidance, and facilitate improvement work in various processes within Baggage Operations to meet its strategic objective.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and support a diverse team of multi-skilled employees by overseeing work efforts, monitoring performance, managing hiring, coaching, and development, conducting formal evaluations, and applying appropriate discipline.
- Develop, implement, and manage service delivery programs, particularly for baggage operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and aligning operational principles with airport strategic priorities. This includes overseeing system improvements and projects related to the capital program.
- Manage the baggage operations service contract, which covers system monitoring, baggage system field response, and additional functions such as manual encoding, cart handling, sortation, and induction support, ensuring all aspects of the service run smoothly and efficiently.
- Establish and monitor performance and service level targets for the baggage operation, identifying areas for continuous improvement and implementing necessary changes to optimize efficiency while meeting operational demands based on flight schedules and fluctuating conditions.
- Plan and coordinate baggage asset assignment and resources, ensuring readiness for contingency operations and maintaining up-to-date documentation, procedures, and training to effectively manage operational risks and mitigations.
- Collaborate with airline partners, ground handlers, and regulatory agencies to ensure seamless service delivery, proactively communicate changes in the system or operations, and support project work by planning for operational impacts, maintaining safety, minimizing disruption, and maximizing efficiency.
Key qualifications include:
- 5 years’ relevant experience working in an airport or industrial operational environment with at least 3 years’ management-level experience, including experience leading diverse teams, supplemented by a bachelor’s degree in a field related to Aviation, Operations Management, Business or Engineering; or an equivalent combination of training and experience (preference will be given to candidates with Six Sigma designation).
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills with a proven ability to manage, interpret, and derive insights from data, then develop and implement operational plans and programs based on those insights.
- Demonstrated experience in managing business and operational planning cycles, including setting requirements and constraints, and translating those into actionable execution plans for successful operational delivery and implementation.
- Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and critical thinking, with comfort in multitasking and balancing competing priorities and interests in fast-paced environments.
- Exceptional collaboration skills, able to work effectively with peers, customers, and service providers in high-stress, challenging discussions to ensure 24x7 service and issue resolution when needed.
- Strong leadership experience in guiding and motivating highly skilled teams, fostering a proactive, flexible, and responsive work environment, while upholding a strong commitment to health and safety under pressure.

Salary Range : $100,640 to $144,670 per annum, based on 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity. Performance-Based Incentive: Eligible for an annual bonus target at 15% of your annual salary.
