Positive Kids is a provider of holistic ADHD treatment for children and their families. We are the creators of a unique model called "LEPS." Our LEPS Model tackles the complications associated with ADHD with a very high success rate. Our counsellor will work with children to assess needs, create a treatment plan and begin working with child on a one to one basis to address social and emotional challenges.
The role will consist of the following:
- Conduct assessments and identify clients’ presenting concerns and therapeutic needs.
- Develop individualized treatment goals and intervention plans.
- Provide individual, family, and/or parent counselling as appropriate.
- Support clients with emotional regulation, anxiety, stress, self-esteem, behavioural concerns, relationships, coping skills, and life transitions.
- Provide trauma-informed and culturally responsive care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, progress notes, treatment plans, and reports.
- Communicate appropriately with parents, caregivers, and other professionals involved in the client’s care, with appropriate consent.
- Participate in clinical supervision, consultation, and team meetings as required.
- Collaborate with other Positive Kids professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Make appropriate referrals to community resources and other healthcare professionals when additional services are required.
- Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to applicable ethical and regulatory standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain current knowledge of relevant therapeutic practices.
- Provide services in accordance with Positive Kids policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychotherapy, Counselling Psychology, or a related field.
- Registration in good standing with the appropriate professional regulatory college, such as the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and/or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), as applicable.
- Professional liability insurance.
- Experience working with children, youth, adults, and/or families is preferred.
- Experience providing psychotherapy or counselling services.
- Strong understanding of ethical practice, confidentiality, informed consent, and professional boundaries.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-informed therapeutic approaches.
