Job Summary
The Bagel Baker at JC’s Hot Bagels is responsible for producing high-quality, fresh bagels daily according to established recipes, procedures, and quality standards. This role is critical to maintaining JC’s reputation for consistency, freshness, and craftsmanship built over 30+ years.
The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in hands-on food production.
Responsibilities
- Bagel Production
- Mix, scale, and prepare bagel dough according to JC’s approved recipes
Quality Control
- Follow all JC’s production SOPs and “non-negotiables”
- Identify and remove any sub-standard product
- Maintain consistency across batches and days
- Communicate production issues to the Head Baker or Manager immediately
Food Safety & Cleanliness
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
- Maintain a clean and organized bake area at all times
- Properly clean mixers, racks, ovens, floors, and prep surfaces
- Follow opening and/or closing cleaning checklistsRequirements
- Shape and rack bagels consistently to meet size and quality standards
- Monitor proofing times and conditions to ensure proper fermentation
- Boil and bake bagels to achieve correct texture, color, and finish
- Ensure only fresh, properly labeled bagels are baked (no over-proofed or expired product)
- Prior experience in a bakery, restaurant, or food service environment is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of baking techniques, and food preparation is a plus
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and proper handling procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Kitchen experience or familiarity with the food industry is advantageous
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks with accuracy
- Food handling certification or willingness to obtain certification is preferred
Inventory & Organization
- Assist with proper labeling and dating of racks and dough
- Rotate product using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles
- Notify management of low ingredients or equipment issues

Pay: $22.00-$27.00 per hour
