SETIN is a growing construction company specializing in high-quality commercial and residential projects. We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Project Cost Estimator to join our team and play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates for concrete and drywall scopes.
Position Summary
The Project Cost Estimator will be responsible for reviewing drawings and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, preparing detailed cost estimates, and supporting the tender and pre-construction process. The ideal candidate has strong estimating experience in concrete and drywall and can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs for concrete and drywall work.
- Develop detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals.
- Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.
- Coordinate with project managers, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors during the estimating process.
- Maintain estimating databases, pricing, and historical cost information.
- Assist with bid submissions and project handovers to the operations team.
- Support multiple estimating projects while meeting strict deadlines.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of estimating experience in concrete, drywall, or general construction.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience with quantity takeoff and estimating software (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, OST, or similar).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related field.
- Experience estimating commercial, institutional, and residential projects.
- Familiarity with Ontario building codes and local construction practices.
