About the Role
Prefab Yukon is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented person to join our growing prefabrication operation in Ibex Valley, Yukon as a Prefab Assembly Technician.
This is one full-time, permanent vacancy with a starting wage of $27.00–$36.00/hour, based on relevant experience and demonstrated capability.
You will help manufacture wood wall panels and other building components in an indoor production environment. The work combines residential framing skills with manufacturing discipline: following production drawings, preparing components, assembling and squaring walls, applying sheathing, completing quality checks, and preparing finished panels for delivery.
Carpentry apprenticeship or framing experience is an asset, but it is not required. We are also interested in applicants with construction, woodworking, manufacturing, or other practical hands-on experience.
What You’ll Do
- Assemble exterior and interior wood wall panels from production drawings and specifications using pneumatic and power tools and wall-assembly equipment.
- Prepare headers, corners, partition connections, trimmers, and other subassemblies.
- Measure, cut, identify, and stage lumber and components for production.
- Position and fasten OSB or plywood sheathing and complete rough openings.
- Verify dimensions, openings, squareness, materials, fastening patterns, and other specified quality requirements.
- Stage materials and finished components and help maintain efficient production flow.
- Identify, bundle, protect, and stage completed panels and components for transport.
- Follow safe work procedures and maintain a clean, organized workstation.
- Cross-train across different production stations as the operation grows.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience safely using hand tools, circular saws, and pneumatic fastening tools.
- Construction, framing, carpentry, woodworking, manufacturing, or similar hands-on experience.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately and perform basic construction math.
- Ability to follow drawings, cut sheets, written instructions, and standardized production procedures.
- Good attention to detail and the judgement to stop and ask questions when drawings, materials, or instructions do not match rather than guessing.
- Ability to work efficiently without sacrificing safety or quality.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong team mindset.
- Willingness to learn multiple production functions and adapt as processes improve.
- Ability to safely handle lumber, sheet goods, and construction materials and perform physical work throughout the shift.
Assets
- Registered Carpenter Apprentice, particularly 2nd- or 3rd-year.
- Residential or commercial wood-framing experience.
- Previous wall-panel, truss, modular, or off-site construction experience.
- Experience reading shop drawings, framing layouts, cut lists, or fastening schedules.
- Forklift or other material-handling experience.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with quality-control or production/manufacturing systems.
Work Location & Transportation
This is an on-site position at our Ibex Valley shop. Public transportation is not available, so reliable transportation to and from the worksite is required.
A valid Class 5 driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle are strongly preferred.
Why Prefab Yukon
- Consistent, year-round indoor work.
- Predictable full-time shop schedule.
- Specialized training in prefabricated construction and manufacturing.
- Cross-training across different production functions.
- Opportunity to contribute ideas as we improve production methods, material handling, quality systems, and shop workflow.
- Opportunity to develop additional production skills as the operation grows.
