Job Overview
We are currently seeking an Assistant Controller for Palm Holding Corporate head office located in Toronto Downtown.
You will collaborate with general managers and other accountants to create precise financial reports to increase our spending awareness. You will also be responsible for managing monthly and quarterly company tax filings and any other federal or local taxation business.
As an assistant controller you will be responsible for managing supplier invoicing and outbound payments (including payroll), monitor and record sales, and ensure all financial models, records, and related materials are kept up-to-date and stored safely to ensure they can be retained in the event of a catastrophe.
Responsibilities:
- Review revenue reconciliation daily working with a minimum of 5 hotels to ensure information is being processed accurately and post revenue to ERP in t timely manner.
- Review invoices uploaded by the hotels ensuring coding accuracy and processing payments in a timely manner.
- Responsible for reconciling bank on a weekly basis paying close attention to cashflow needs.
- Produce monthly financials statements in accordance to company policy and deadlines
- Create and file all necessary tax and financial forms for the company
- Ensure trial balances are reconciled monthly and prepare yearly audit packages
- Advise best practices and optimizations throughout accounting processes
- Collaborate with finance personnel to develop approaches for creating more-accurate financial records and models for the company
- Determine proper company filing schedule based on available information
- Quality-assure and audit reports and filings for errors
- Implement feedback and changes whenever possible
- Create visualizations that convey accurate financial views of the project
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of Hotel accounting experience.
- Experience with Business Intelligence Systems
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skill
- Self starter/Able to work unsupervised on full cycle accounting
- Demonstrates initiative
- CPA or Working towards CPA
- Motivated, intuitive, decisive, confident
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- Able to gain respect of members of department/operations
- Proficiency in accounting software (Sage300 & Jonas constriction a plus), strong excel skills
