Double Star Drilling has an immediate opening for a full time Piling Driller for our Shoring and Piling division. Previous Experience as a driller is critical to this role.
The drilling operator is responsible for operating piling drill equipment to drill open hole and cased holes for use as foundation support to various structures and also horizontal temporary anchors. The Operator plans daily installations, reviews construction documentation, evaluates site conditions, anticipates and solves potential installation issues and assures standards of safety and quality are consistently met or exceeded while maintaining the timeline of the project schedule. The Driller/Piling Operator is responsible for the safe operation of their assigned piece of equipment and proper maintenance of that equipment.
Key Duties
- Minimum 1 year operating a SR30 or equivalent
- Will be required to perform a drug and alcohol test for pre-project access or post-incident
- Must be on time and fit for duty for all shifts
- Mechanically inclined
- Able to perform Ensure that all daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork is completed and handed in on time
- Operate assigned drilling machinery and communicate work scope plan
- Complete all required daily safety site paperwork
- Perform pre-operational inspections, safety checks, load chart calculations, and daily logs
- Communicate with assigned crews
- Must be comfortable with survey equipment
- Ability to read grade stakes and elevations
- Reading and following plans, drawings and engineered designs
- May perform other related duties as assigned
Equipment
Drilling Rigs: Watson 1100 - 2500, Soilmec SR30 - SR75, Liebherr 28 - LB36, BG24 and other various equipment as required by project scope
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 – 2 years operating a piling drill rig
- Will be required to perform a drug and alcohol test for pre-project access or post-incident
- Must be on time and fit for duty for all shifts
- Mechanically inclined
- Able to perform physically demanding tasks outside in all types of weather and terrain
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to walk on uneven terrain, sitting/driving for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Reading and following work scope plans, drawings and engineered designs
- Must have excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid First Aid
- Valid CSTS 2020 from ACSA
- Valid WHMIS Certification
- Valid Ground Disturbance Certification
- Class 5 Drivers License
- Can travel for out of town work (40%)

Hours & Schedule
- Monday to Friday 8 -12 hours per day
