The Content Writer is responsible for writing various forms of content, from web copy and blog posts to ad copy and social media content. While Content Writers must have the ability to work across a range of media and formats, this position will be heavily involved in social media content creation and will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing the accounts of multiple clients from a variety of industries. The Content Writer works in close partnership with the Content Manager, the Director of Strategy, Strategists, Art Directors, and the Creative Director.

Social Media Content Creation and Management

  • Curates, plans and schedules posts for clients from a variety of industries, representing each unique brand in an authentic, compelling and differentiating manner
  • Develops social strategies to build client follower base, drive higher engagement as well as successfully accomplish client goals
  • Continuously improves content by using SEO and capturing/analyzing data and/or metrics
  • Actively engages in client relationship management and takes responsibility for projects, working closely with the Content Manager to ensure the quality of all project work and that content aligns with client needs and William Joseph expectations
  • Coordinates with team members including Content Writers, Graphic Designers, Web Developers, Account Managers, and others in order to execute social media content strategies and gather necessary resources
  • Monitors performance of social content and communicates client analytics to each client account, sharing best practices and implementing changes to strategy based on analytics
  • Develops and manages multiple client social accounts and calendars at any given time
  • Maintains social media timelines to keep projects on-track and on-budget
  • Stays apprised of current social media trends and best practices, continually adapting strategies and content to keep content relevant and timely

  • Demonstrates high attention to detail in all work
  • Produces original, clear and credible ideas/messages/scripts for many mediums and channels, including blogs, web copy, and proposals
  • Proofs and edits strategy documents following provided guidelines
  • Aids in the development of content strategies
  • Optimizes content for search engines and lead generation
  • Conducts analytical projects to improve content strategies/tactics
  • Works with members of the Strategy team to fully understand a client’s (internal and external) core message and target audience, developing unique content representative of each client
  • Grow subscriber base by providing regular, helpful content that’s in-tune with followers’ needs
  • Responsible, along with the Content Manager and the Director of Strategy, for checking that all content being advertised is truthful and complies with codes of advertising practice

  • Degree in marketing, communications or related field
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a writing role
  • Experience with Hootsuite, Asana, Planoly, HubSpot or other like platforms is valued
  • Experience in photography for social use is considered an asset
  • Computer literate in Microsoft applications (i.e., Word, Excel, etc.)

It is essential to have a good appreciation of what working within the marketing industry involves. A good portfolio of work should be prepared to demonstrate abilities.
