ROH Mechanical is growing, and we are looking for a skilled and dependable Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. You will work on customer vehicles and our internal fleet of trucks, trailers, and equipment—helping keep everything safe, compliant, and road-ready.
This is not the same repair every day. The position combines shop work with mobile service calls throughout Alberta, including occasional travel to remote locations. A company service truck and tools are provided.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair commercial trucks and trailers.
- Complete preventative maintenance, including brake adjustments, lubrication, tire changes, and torque checks.
- Diagnose and repair air systems, brakes, hubs, suspensions, ABS, lighting, wiring, and other electrical or mechanical issues.
- Read wiring diagrams and schematics to troubleshoot complex problems.
- Complete CVIP inspections and all required documentation.
- Perform road service calls using a company service truck.
- Travel to remote Alberta locations when operationally required.
- Repair related heavy-duty and industrial equipment as needed.
- Perform welding and cutting work within your qualifications.
- Accurately record labour, repairs, inspections, and parts used.
- Communicate professionally with customers, drivers, vendors, and internal team members.
- Keep your work area and service truck clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
What You’ll Need
- Journeyman certification as a Heavy Equipment Technician – Truck and Transport Mechanic, or an equivalent recognized certification.
- A valid Alberta CVIP Technician Licence or the qualifications and ability to become licensed for CVIP inspections. This is a requirement of the position.
- Strong experience maintaining and repairing commercial trucks and trailers.
- Solid knowledge of air brakes, wheel ends, hubs, suspensions, electrical systems, lighting, wiring, and ABS.
- Strong mechanical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently in the shop and during road service calls.
- Minimum valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Ability and willingness to travel to remote locations when required.
- A reliable, safety-focused, and detail-oriented approach.
- Strong time-management and customer-service skills.
Additional Assets
- Current Alberta CVIP Technician Licence
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Heavy or industrial equipment repair experience
- Forklift certification
- Experience using fleet-maintenance or work-order software
Schedule
Monday to Friday, with participation in a rotating on-call weekend schedule for emergency repairs and road service.
