Job Summary
The Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (ASPB) is the provincial regulator responsible for protecting the Public by setting standards for qualifications, conduct, and continuing competency for the practice of biology. There are more than 2,500 biologists registered with ASPB. The Society is currently recruiting for an experienced administrative professional to fill this position.
Reporting to the Executive Director, we are looking for a professional, adaptable, energetic individual to be responsible for the effective and efficient administration of the ASPB office.
This position includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Administrative support to management
- Registrant Services
- Administrative support services for Registrar and Registration Committee including coordination of transcripts, preparing follow up correspondence from Registrar and preparation and distribution of certificates and stamps
- Be a first point of contact for the public, applicants and members
- Volunteer Coordination
- Liaise with volunteers
- Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained
- Assist in managing a recognition program
- Attendance at Board, Committee, and Annual General Meetings, organization and distribution of agendas and supporting documents and taking of and distribution of minutes as needed
- Manage/ assist in event coordination
- Assist in mentoring coordination
- Support Student outreach
- Other administrative and support duties as required
Qualifications:
- A degree, diploma, or other education in business administration is considered an asset
- Minimum three years of administration and event coordination/ management experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience in program coordination
- Proven problem-solving skills with effective use of judgement
- Able to work with little supervision and is a self-starter
- Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in a not-for-profit, educational, or professional regulatory organization would be a definite asset
