About the role
We are looking for a creative communicator to join our team of storytellers, strategic thinkers, designers, brand experts and digital strategists on our People & Communications team. This is an 8-month rotational student role, splitting your time on our Communications team and Digital Media team. You will support with writing and editing memorable and compelling content. You will support the development of communication strategies and make an impact with creative ideas that support organization-wide initiatives. Training will be provided on OPTrust procedures, systems and work processes. Students will also participate in OPTrust’s orientation and campus program.
What you’ll do
Support the development of communication and digital media plans, projects and programs to drive awareness of key initiatives.
Develop compelling visual content and stories for OPTrust’s intranet, websites, social channels, newsletters, email campaigns and other materials including short videos, photography and animations.
Coordinate and support event planning and execution, including event-related communications, logistics and onsite or virtual delivery.
Assist in creating internal and external campaigns that connect, inform and engage different audiences.
Find ways to enhance and improve communication practices and channels.
Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders across the organization.
Help ensure a consistent tone, voice and standards that reflect OPTrust’s brand identity.
Review, proofread and edit communications using Canadian Press Stylebook as a guide.
What you bring
Enrolled in a post-secondary degree or certificate co-op program in communications, graphic design, marketing, journalism, public relations or other communications-related disciplines.
Previous internship(s) or work experience in communications, digital media, marketing or journalism will be an asset.
Proficient with digital tools, applications and platforms such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Meltwater, Google Analytics, Constant Contact, SiteImprove, Simpplr, etc. is an asset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A team player who thrives in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills to prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
Ability to think creatively to create compelling and memorable content.
Proactive and resourceful in your approach to problem solving to find effective solutions and recommendations.

The range of expected compensation for this position is $720.00 to $1,285.00 per week.
