The selected candidate will leverage their field experience to perform subsurface utility field investigations, generate comprehensive technical reports and site sketches, and identify utility conflicts across diverse infrastructure projects in Ontario.
General Duties
Field Operations
- Conduct detailed subsurface utility investigations using standard SUE methodologies, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and non-destructive excavation methods.
- Gather high-accuracy field data on above-grade and below-grade infrastructure for municipal, telecom, transit, and private sector clients.
- Perform utility conflict analysis by comparing field observations against existing utility maps and project design plans.
- Operate safely in outdoor environments across all weather conditions, remote areas, and high-traffic zones.
Reporting & CAD Drafting
- Translate field data, measurements, and markings into clear, accurate field sketches, reports, and CAD drawings using AutoCAD.
- Deliver accurate and timely deliverables to Project Coordinators, Project Managers, and Engineering teams.
- Document site conditions, depth of utilities, equipment calibration logs, and potential hazards daily.
Client & Project Coordination
- Attend on-site meetings with clients and team members to review scope, clarify utility findings, and address site-specific constraints.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, field staff, and utility representatives to ensure smooth workflow and minimal project delays.
Process Improvement & Leadership
- Contribute to the ongoing development of internal survey processes and field methodologies to improve operational efficiency and safety.
- Mentor junior team members on best practices in field investigation and data collection techniques.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with Field inspection, construction specific to telecom design and practices.
- Valid G license and clean driving abstract.
- Working, reliable vehicle for daily travel required for the position.
Education:
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Telecommunications Technology, or related field.
- Relevant certifications in construction inspection or telecommunications.

Working Schedule & Location
- Monday to Friday (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM)
- Half hour lunch (Unpaid)
- Territory: Eastern Ontario
- Hybrid Position
Hourly Compensation Range: $28 – $35 CAD
This role is a hybrid work arrangement, with mandatory travel, and may require regular reporting to one of our office locations across Ontario.
