The salary range for this position is:

Recruitment range: $69,052- $76,129 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.

Performance range: starting salary to max of $89,791 is available through annual performance increases.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of CAL, the Office Manager is responsible for the supervision of the front desk staff whose primary functions are student reception, student file and information management, administrative support to staff, exam invigilation, and other office duties. The Office Manager provides administrative support to the CAL Director and Associate Director and oversees CAL communications, which includes developing and implementing communication strategies and plans for day-to-day messaging and specific department initiatives.

Contributing to a collaborative team climate is fundamental to the success of CAL operations and is essential to providing students with quality service. The Office Manager fosters respect and trust among team members, employs effective team communication, participates actively and meaningfully at team meetings, engages with learning and professional development opportunities, and is the point person for collaboration and communication with other campus units. The Office Manager works collaboratively with other leaders at CAL to ensure clear, consistent administrative procedures are in place, centring the student experience at the forefront.

Job Requirements

Education:

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in an area related to this position such as Administration, Psychology, or Social Work, plus three (3) years of relevant experience. a Previous supervisory experience and post-secondary setting experience is preferred.

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

In addition this position requires:

Demonstrated leadership, supervisory skills, and the ability to inspire a team
Confidence in guiding, advising, and providing student support
Knowledge and experience in operational management of a database and highly confidential student medical records
Proficiency in office and administrative procedures and problem-solving
A sound understanding of the issues, challenges, and strategic directions for post-secondary institutions in British Columbia
Knowledge of and/or experience in campus protocol and processes is an asset
Superior and specialized communication skills, both written and verbal as well as the ability to interact with people in a tactful, professional, and diplomatic manner.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, faculty and staff, often in the context of emotional distress and/or crisis
Demonstrated ability to work positively and professionally with the public and university staff both in individual and group settings; familiarity with a unionized environment is an asset.
