About the Opportunity
We are seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to support the execution of nuclear projects within an operating power generation environment. This role will provide engineering and project execution support for a variety of plant modification, maintenance, and refurbishment initiatives, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable nuclear standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering and field execution support for mechanical projects of varying complexity.
- Coordinate technical activities throughout the project lifecycle, from planning through commissioning and return to service.
- Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Work Management, Supply Chain, Safety, and field execution teams to support project implementation.
- Review and validate engineering designs, technical documentation, calculations, and project deliverables.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, quality requirements, and nuclear safety expectations.
- Participate in constructability, operability, maintainability, and safety reviews.
- Support project schedules, budgets, reporting requirements, and stakeholder communications.
- Assist with troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical decision-making during project execution.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and engineering records.
- Support the assessment, installation, modification, and commissioning of mechanical systems and equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Eligible for registration or currently registered with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- 2–7 years of engineering experience, preferably within nuclear, power generation, utilities, industrial, or heavy manufacturing environments.
- Active Bruce Power or OPG Security Clearance is required.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, plant equipment, pressure boundary systems, piping, HVAC, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and engineering design principles.
- Familiarity with engineering change control processes and regulated industry environments is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting field execution, commissioning, installation, or modification projects is preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and adapt to changing project priorities.
- Knowledge of CANDU technology and nuclear industry standards is considered an asset.
Pay: $58.00-$75.00 per hour
