Seeking a dedicated and skilled Chef to join our culinary team. As a Chef, you will play a crucial role in leading our team of food service associates in prep and production. You'll ensure the highest quality of food, exceptional service, and a positive guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations:
- Lead the cooking and preparing of food based on approved recipes and production standards.
- Participate in all phases of food preparation, menu planning, and development.
- Ensure timely completion of production orders, maintaining quality and presentation.
- Store food following corporate and provincial food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Adhere to proper food handling, portion control, and serving temperature guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, supplies, and workstations.
- Provide menu knowledge to associates and customers, addressing dietary and allergen-related inquiries.
- Sound knowledge of financial management including the ability to control food and labour costs.
- Efficiently manage time and tasks during peak production and service hours.
- Ensure the unit has strict compliance with our Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Program, Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS regulations
People Leadership:
- Manage and lead hourly food service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, and performance reviews.
- Interact with customers to resolve complaints and provide a friendly, service-oriented experience.
- Relay relevant information to the supervisor and collaborate with the team for effective operations.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels, track product consumption, and create orders when supplies are low.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory
Qualifications:
- Minimum of four years of related culinary supervisory experience in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
- FoodSafe Certification.
- Post-secondary education in culinary or related studies.
- Strong background in banquet and catering functions with high-volume production.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends, focusing on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
- Management skills, with the ability to motivate, lead, and develop associates.
- Hard-working team player with effective prioritization skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
