We are a busy, four-physician family practice located in northwest Calgary. We are seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Medical Office Assistant to join our close-knit team while one of our valued staff members is on maternity leave.

Position Details
This is a temporary part-time maternity leave position, beginning August 17, 2026, and anticipated to continue until August 2027.
Guaranteed hours: 12 hours per week
- Wednesdays: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Fridays: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Additional hours will frequently be available to provide vacation and sick coverage for other team members. Candidates with flexible availability may work anywhere from 18–36 hours per week during periods of increased coverage needs.
No evenings, weekends, or statutory holidays are required.
While this position is temporary, there may be an opportunity for ongoing casual or part-time employment for an exceptional candidate.
Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and support efficient patient flow throughout the clinic
- Answer telephone and in-person inquiries in a professional and friendly manner
- Schedule and coordinate physician and allied health appointments
- Prepare examination rooms and assist with room turnover between patients
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records, including demographic updates, scanning, and data entry
- Coordinate recalls and follow-up appointments as directed by physicians
- Perform and document basic patient measurements (vital signs, height, weight, etc.)
- Assist physicians with requisitions and administrative tasks
- Stock examination rooms with appropriate medical supplies
- Assist physicians and practitioners during examinations when required
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinic environment
- Protect patient confidentiality and comply with all applicable privacy legislation and clinic policies at all times
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- The ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong computer proficiency and comfort learning new software
- Previous Medical Office Assistant experience
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is considered a strong asset
- Completion of a Medical Office Assistant or Unit Clerk program is preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team
