Murray’s Farm is looking for FARMHANDS (Full and Part Time)
Murray’s Farm is a small but mighty mixed farm located in Cambridge, ON, with a passion for pasture-raised heritage animals and sustainable, organic fruit and vegetable gardening. We sell direct to consumers via numerous farmers’ markets in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area and at our award-winning craft butcher shop in downtown Hamilton. We also sell wholesale to gourmet food stores and other high-end butcher shops.
We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking farmhands, both full- and part-time, to join our team and learn/apply traditional methods of gardening and raising livestock. The part-time position requires weekend work, primarily on Sundays. The full-time position requires flexibility with both weekend/weekday scheduling.
Key Responsibilities:
Duties include:
· weeding the market gardens
· harvesting vegetables and fruit
· cleaning out chicken houses
· feeding livestock
· yard maintenance
· prepping for market days
Basic construction/handyperson experience (i.e., fixing fences and other small repairs) is an asset.
Qualifications:
· Self-motivated and able to work independently
· Ability to manage and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment
· Part-time positions are ideal for students studying agriculture in any capacity
This is an active outdoor position suited to someone who enjoys hands-on work and is comfortable working in all seasons and weather conditions.
Compensation starts at $18.50 per hour, paid biweekly, with regular deductions (Unemployment, Income Tax, etc.).
