Mission Eye Care is a locally owned, independent optometry practice located in the heart of Calgary’s Mission community, just south of downtown. With a team of six doctors and a growing practice, we are looking for a full-time Optometric Technician to join our team.
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about healthcare, enjoys working with people, and wants more than just a job. If you’re motivated to learn, we’ll give you the training and opportunities to build your skills and grow within the practice.
What You’ll Do
As an Optometric Technician, you’ll be an important part of the patient experience and work closely with our doctors and the rest of our team.
Your role will include:
- Welcoming and communicating with patients while creating a positive, comfortable experience
- Gathering relevant medical and ocular history and developing familiarity with medical terminology and abbreviations
- Performing preliminary testing and measurements to assist our doctors with patient assessments
- Training patients on safe and proper contact lens insertion, removal, and care
- Performing dry eye testing and treatments
- Assisting our doctors with various patient procedures and, with appropriate training, performing certain procedures independently
- Maintaining accurate and thorough patient records
- Working collaboratively with doctors, technicians, optical staff, and front desk team members.
