The Wireline Supervisor oversees the daily operations of a wireline truck, manages and leads all levels of Operators and provides staff mentorship. The wireline supervisor promotes and maintains good customer relations and is responsible for all cased-hole wireline operations both in the shop and in the field. This position is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and record keeping for the wireline trucks, tools, and equipment. The wireline supervisor will act as a mentor for all operators.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Understand and adhere to all Tier 1 Energy Solutions (Tier 1) policies and procedures, furthermore understand and adhere to any client’s policies and procedures;
- Ability to promote safety awareness;
- Assembles and performs perforating guns services in various field locations;
- Running logging services such as Cement Bond logs, Gamma Ray Logs, Noise/Temperature Logs and correlation logs;
- Ensuring compliance with all regulations applicable to Wireline explosives operations;
- Ensures that all safety practices are implemented before, during and after the well service operation;
- Provides technical assistance, supervision and training to other team members on location to assure work is carried out according to set schedules and procedures;
- Mentor and supervises all operators relating the dangers of the jobs and importance of wellhead execution in the field and in the shop;
- Train operators on winch operations;
- Troubleshooting of tool, equipment and truck problems;
- Complete all job related paperwork and logs;
- Ensuring compliance with all regulations applicable to Wireline explosives operations;
- Cleans and maintains company vehicles, tools and equipment;
- Working with Customer Representatives to ensure target dates etc;
- Other duties as assigned by the reporting Manager.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Two (2) year experience in similar role;
- Three (3) + years’ experience working in plug and perf wireline operations;
- 4+ years’ experience in pump down plug and perf wireline operations as a supervisor;
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety manuals, operations instructions and policies/procedures and communicate this information effectively;
- Ability to write reports and simple correspondence and effectively communicate/present information to groups of coworkers, customers, or members of the management team;
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts (fractions, ratios, percentages, proportions) to practical situations;
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, calculate reliability and validity and correlations;
- Three (3) or more years’ experience with logging and perforating etc;
- Wireline pressure control experience; 10 k pressure training;
- Wireline training (an asset);
- NSC/DOT Regulations;
- Winch operations;
- Wireline Performance Characteristic’s and Maintenance;
- Explosives Safety;
- Basic Electronic knowledge;
- Ability to mentor and willingness to learn and grow within Tier 1;
- Ability to think quickly and apply problem solving skills to situations as they come up in the field;
- Ability to work in a positive team environment;
- Ability to work with hand and power tools;
- Required to keep all applicable certifications up to date as required by Tier 1’s Quality and HSE;
- Ability to operate independently;
- Federal Explosives Regulations;
- Pump Down Operations;
- Cased hole wireline Operations;
- PSAC Code of practice for safe operation of explosives;
- Ability to champion a company safety culture.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Frequent climbing (stairs, ladders, terrain);
- Frequent lifting, pushing and pulling (70 pounds);
- Frequent bending, twisting and standing;
- Exposure to working outdoors in all-weather conditions;
- Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week;
- Exposure to high noise over 85 dba;
- Working with explosives.
Educations, Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
- High School Diploma, General Education Diploma, or Equivalent Experience;
- H2S (an asset);
- Class 3 Drivers License (a must);
- First Aid/CPR (an asset);
- Must be able to obtain a Blaster License;
- PAL License (an asset).
Qualifications:
- Results from a pre-employment test must be deemed acceptable in accordance to Tier 1’s policies;
- 5 years commercial/drivers abstract must be in compliant with Tier 1’s guidelines;
- Results from a back ground check must be deemed acceptable in accordance to Tier 1’s guidelines;
- Must have acceptable National Dose History results as per Tier 1’s guidelines;
- Ability to travel and work a 14 on and 7 day off rotation
- Must be approved by Service Canada to work with explosives.
