Duties
- Perform thorough cleaning of commercial kitchen hoods, exhaust ducts, filters, and fans using hand tools and power tools to remove grease buildup and debris.
- Ensure all work is completed to NFPA 96 and BC Fire Code standards
- Disassemble and reassemble ventilation components safely and efficiently for cleaning or inspection purposes.
- Utilize appropriate cleaning agents and techniques to ensure all surfaces are sanitized and compliant with safety standards.
- Conduct inspections of ventilation systems to identify potential issues or blockages, reporting findings promptly.
- Maintain detailed records of each service performed, including before-and-after photos and inspection reports.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) during every job to prevent accidents or injuries.
Skills
- Proficiency with equipment and tools such as pressure washers, screwdrivers, pliers, brushes, scrapers, and wrenches.
- Experience in facilities maintenance or commercial cleaning environments is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively for cleaning tasks.
- Strong knowledge of custodial practices related to grease removal and ventilation system upkeep.
- Effective time management skills to complete scheduled jobs efficiently without sacrificing quality.
- Physical strength for heavy lifting, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces for extended periods.
Preferred Certifications (Strong Asset)
- ASTTBC RFPT (Fire Protection Technician)
- NFPA 96 training or certification
- WHMIS
- Fall Protection / Working at Heights
- First Aid Level 1
Schedule
- Evening and overnight shifts (10 PM to 6 AM)
- Early morning cleans (for smaller restaurants (5 AM to 10 AM)
