Winpak Ltd., a public company, operates ten production facilities in Canada, the United States and Mexico, with its head office located in Winnipeg. Continued growth in sales has positioned the Company as one of the leaders in the North American market for the supply of flexible and rigid plastic packaging. Winpak's location in Winnipeg, Manitoba is currently searching to fill the position of: Pouch Packer.

Position objective:
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Packer is responsible to safely and efficiently inspect and pack the pouches according to established standards for product quality and kilogram/hour outputs.

Duties and responsibilities:
Inspect and pack pouches/rolls in a safe and efficient manner.

Maintain product quality according to established standards and achieve maximum kilogram/hour output with minimal scrap production.

Prepare in advance all orders for the shift to minimize the amount of non-productive time and production scrap.

Assist the Operator by monitoring quality and production speeds and report any deviation from the standards to the Operator.

Lift and handle rolls and boxes for finished goods which may weigh up to 35kg.

Assume the responsibility for the quality and quantity of bags placed in each box.

Assist the Operator by making minor machine changes.

Ensure that the necessary paperwork such as production reports and line reports are complete and accurate.

Maintain the department at a level of housekeeping as outlined by the Company.

Assist in special projects as assigned by the Shift Supervisor.

Operate the forklift and other lifting devices as required (only after receiving the proper training).

Promote teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication within the department and Company. Interact with all levels of the operation in support of Winpak's TQI program.

Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner compliant with ISO 9001 and SQF 2000 standards.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.

Aptitude for machinery.

Previous related work experience is preferred.
