Analyst – Mid-Market Business Advisory
Assurgo Enterprises is a management and corporate finance advisory firm that provides acquisition and divestiture services to middle-market businesses across Western Canada. We are based in Calgary and comprised of a small team of corporate finance specialists.
Assurgo is looking for an analyst to help with managing day-to-day tasks for its services. Applicants must be willing to work onsite in downtown Calgary. The anticipated start date will be November or December 2024.
As an analyst, you will participate in buy-side and sell-side transaction advisory engagements by providing support to Assurgo’s advisors. You will work closely with the team to manage administrative processes, assist on active mandates, and identify new transaction opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Support with managing virtual data rooms and conducting highly targeted research on companies.
- Assist with outreach to potential buyers and sellers via e-mail and over the phone.
- Support origination of new business through preparation of marketing materials and assisting with the development of presentations to clients and prospects.
- Assemble financial information on an ad-hoc basis and assist with financial modeling.
- Work with market intelligence and CRM databases to generate new contacts.
- Help with documenting best practices and creating templates.
- Perform other ad-hoc administrative support functions, such as scheduling meetings and taking meeting notes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Recently completed a degree in accounting, finance, or business from an accredited university with a strong academic background.
- Have proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a small team and move from task to task efficiently.
- Have strong communication skills (verbal and written) and sound reporting skills.
- Have strong command of Microsoft 365 products, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, proven by any combination of formal training and/or work experience. Proficiency with Power BI considered an asset.
- Have foundational skills in financial analysis, such as the completion of a financial modeling course, work experience or similar training.
- Have a strong interest in corporate finance, business development, and marketing with a desire to take on new challenges and learn from experienced professionals in these areas.
- Enrolment in any of CPA/CFA/CBV programs considered a definite plus
