Intent of the process
*** This process is ancipatory ***. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar or identical bilingual positions of various durations (specified period, indeterminate, deployment, assignment, secondment and acting) within Transport Canada, Quebec Region only.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
  • A secondary school diploma OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Degree equivalency

  • Possession of a valid Aviation Document Booklet;
  • Possession of a valid Category 1 Aviation Medical;
  • Possession of a valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License - Aeroplane Category with valid Group 1 Instrument Rating that meets all applicable currency requirements to be able to exercise the privileges of the licence AND possession of a valid Restricted Radio-Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical);
  • Possession of a valid Canadian Commercial Pilot License - Helicopter Category with a valid Group IV Instrument Rating that meets all applicable currency requirements to be able to exercise the privileges of the licence AND possession of a valid Restricted Radio-Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical).

At least one of the following :
o Total of 2,500 hours flight time, which includes 1,000 hours as pilot-in-command of which 500 hours is in multi-engine aeroplanes OR
o Total of 2,500 hours flight time, which includes 1,000 hours as pilot-in-command of which 500 hours is in medium or heavy category helicopters.

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a pilot at a Canadian Air Operator, Private Operator, Flight Training Unit or in the Canadian Military.

  • Knowledge of Canadian Civil Aviation legislation such as the Aeronautics Act, Canadian Aviation Regulations, associated standards and guidance including knowledge of risk management techniques and Safety Management Systems (SMS).

  • Asset 5: Experience as a Class 1 Aerobatics Instructor.
  • Asset 6: Experience working in a regulatory transportation environment.
  • Asset 7: Experience exercising Ministerial Authority under the Aeronautics Act and the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs).
  • Asset 8: Experience as an Approved Check Pilot.
  • Asset 9: Experience as a Pilot Examiner.
  • Asset 10: Experience in developing policies, procedures, or standards.
  • Asset 11: Experience as a flight crewmember on offshore operations.
  • Asset 12: Experience using Flight Management Systems.
  • Asset 13: Experience in conducting long-line operations.
  • Asset 14: Experience in working with Electronic Flight Instrument Systems.
  • Asset 15: Experience on advanced technology aircraft.
  • Asset 16: Possession of an ATPL-H
  • Asset 17: Experience in the planning OR coordination OR management OR execution of the delivery of aviation Safety Management Systems (SMS, or equivalent programs).
  • Asset 18: Experience in working with risk management concepts and principles.
  • Asset 19: Experience as Chief Flight Instructor.
  • Asset 20: Experience as Operations Manager in 702, 703, 704, or 705 operations.
  • Asset 21: Experience as Chief Pilot in 702, 703, 704, or 705 operations.
  • Asset 22: Experience writing documents such as: company operations manuals, technical bulletins, operational procedures and guidance material, training materials, Power Point presentations and other written correspondence.
  • Asset 23: Experience with Unmanned Vehicle Systems (drones).
  • Asset 24: Experience at a Flight Training Unit experience.
  • Asset 25: Experience in writing documents, such as investigative reports or court documents.
  • Asset 26: Experience in conducting investigations.
  • Asset 27: Experience working with legal issues.
  • Asset 28: Total of 3,000 hours flight time, which includes 1,500 hours as pilot-in-command of which 500 hours is in single engine turbine powered aeroplane OR
Total of 3,000 hours flight time, which includes 1,500 hours as pilot-in-command that includes multi-engine turbo-jet transport aeroplanes of a maximum certified take-off gross weight of a minimum of 50,000 pounds.
