Job Summary
Linley Welwood is a well-established Law firm, serving the Fraser Valley. We are seeking a highly motivated family law legal assistant with great team spirit, who is looking for a long-term career with a great growing firm.
As a graduate of an accredited LAA program you will work collaboratively to provide legal administrative support to senior staff and lawyers. You will be responsible for a variety of legal administrative tasks requiring you to exercise judgment.
Responsibilities
- General administrative duties.
- Collecting and organizing financial documents for financial statements and preparing lists of documents.
- Experience using DivorceMate for spousal and child support calculations
- Preparing and drafting pleadings and affidavits.
- Knowledge of the Adoption Act, Divorce Act, and associated forms is an asset.
- Draft, review and prepare routine correspondence, legal documents, court pleadings, and reporting letters.
- BC Online & Land Title searches, and the filing of pleadings via BC Online;
- Invoice preparation-creating, scanning and delivering of same.
- Maintain established systems within the firm such as calendars, client files, and BF systems.
- Assists with scheduling appointments and other dates for/with clients, lawyers and court.
Experience
- Graduate of a Paralegal and/or LAA program
- 3+ years working as a legal assistant or paralegal in Family Law
- Strong attention to detail, oral and written communication skills, including strong proofreading, grammar, and editing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact confidently with paralegals, lawyers, and clients.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- The ability to work independently and within a team
- Knowledge and understanding of the Family Law Act, Provincial Court & Supreme Court Rules.

Pay: $45,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
