Accountant (CPA) – Job Posting (Revised)
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented, proactive CPA-designated (or CPA candidate) Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will oversee accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and support month-end and year-end close activities while ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards. You’ll bring strong technical accounting knowledge, advanced reconciliation skills, and the ability to translate financial data into clear insights for leadership. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, deferrals, and adjusting entries in alignment with GAAP/ASPE/IFRS (as applicable).
- Lead month-end close activities including reconciliations, variance analysis, and preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Perform bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.
- Fully responsible for Accounts Payable and oversee the Accounts Receivable function (managed by the A/R Specialist), including approval workflows, aging reviews, and ensuring accurate cash application.
- Prepare and analyze monthly reporting packages, dashboards, budgets, and forecasts for management review.
- Support audit and review engagements by preparing working papers, responding to auditor inquiries, and ensuring documentation standards are met.
- Assist with tax compliance (GST/HST, payroll taxes, corporate tax support) and maintain accurate records for filings and remittances.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures; identify process improvements and automation opportunities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support business initiatives with financial guidance and timely, accurate reporting.
- Responsible for processing payroll using CMO, including CRA compliance, payroll remittances and payroll tax filings, T4 preparation, issuing cheques as required, and maintaining accurate, compliant payroll records.
Qualifications & Experience
- CPA designation (required) or actively enrolled as a CPA candidate with relevant progressive accounting experience.
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, public practice, or a corporate finance environment (industry or non-profit considered).
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, technical accounting, and reconciliations; ability to interpret and apply accounting standards.
- Proficiency with accounting systems such as Sage, Safeforce, or similar ERP/accounting platforms; advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups) strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting audit readiness, working paper preparation, and compliance documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the warranty industry and/or insurance brokerage environments.

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
