About the A/P Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing invoices, managing vendor payments, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is a team player and has strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This is a full-time, Monday – Friday, in person position.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-cycle accounts payable from invoice receipt through payment.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper expense allocation and approval processes.
- Investigate pricing/receiving variances.
- Prepare and execute weekly cheque runs.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain accurate accounts payable records and documentation.
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payments and account status.
- Monitor payment schedules to ensure timely processing and avoid late fees.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Support audits by providing requested documentation and reports.
- Support other accounting and administrative duties as required.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of full-cycle accounts payable experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and accounts payable processes.
- Accounting education completed or a willingness to complete relevant courses.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience in multi-company environment with inter-company transactions.
- Experience with Procede software is a plus but not required.
- Experience working with CAD and USD transactions is a plus.
- Understanding of GST and PST regulations.
- Good knowledge of Excel.
- Experience in a high-volume invoice processing environment.
While the listed salary range serves as a guideline, compensation is negotiable and may be adjusted above the range based on the candidates experience, education, and overall qualifications.
