Who are we looking for?
Our office in Vancouver, British Columbia is looking for a Technical Director, Petroleum Releases & NAPL Remediation to join the Environmental Services group. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the group and the the future of our Contamination Assessment & Remediation service line through supporting project teams with site conceptual model development, LNAPL assessment including vapour intrusion and natural attenuation assessments, modelling and remedial design, business development, and staff development/mentoring.
This role will provide support to project teams in the management and coordination of remedial investigation and remedial action projects focused on petroleum releases and other types of non-aqueous phase liquid contaminated sites.
Support with planning and coordination of field work including, especially in relation to LNAPL assessment: well installation and soil borings; sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil gas, and indoor air; aquifer testing; groundwater and surface water level monitoring; remedial action implementation and monitoring; geophysical survey; vapor intrusion mitigation and monitoring; NAPL mobility/stability assessments, and natural attenuation studies
Preparing LNAPL Site Conceptual Models
Evaluation of LNAPL mobility, stability and transmissivity
Modeling associated with NAPL mobility, vapour intrusion, natural attenuation and other analytical models as needed.
Provide support to project teams in proposal preparation, evaluation of field and laboratory data, evaluation of environmental regulations, workplan and report preparation, and budgeting/cost estimating, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and client relations
Provide support to project teams in evaluating LNAPL remedial options and developing remedial work plans
Interaction with project stakeholders which include GHD management, clients, agencies, local governments and the public
Training and mentoring staff
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering; related fields of study will also be considered
Professional license is highly regarded (i.e. PE or PG)
10-20 years of project management and/or technical support experience of contaminated site assessment and remediation projects
Experience with contaminant transport modelling, aquifer analysis, statistical software, GIS, and/or human and ecological risk assessments a plus
Ability to perform work both independently and as part of a team in both project work and industry group settings
Ability to participate in technical authority activities such as technical guidance creation, participation in technical conferences, thought leadership, etc.
Strong written and verbal communication and critical thinking skills
Ability to recognize need for adjustments in execution strategy and to proactively implement change
Experience managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail
Ability to handle conflicting priorities and work in a fast paced environment
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Project
Able and willing to travel to job sites and client locations as necessary

The salary range for this position is $147,890 to $187.600. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
