The Implementation Specialist supports the successful adoption and integration of the Ottawa Model for Smoking Cessation (OMSC) across hospitals, primary care, and specialty care settings. In this role, the Specialist applies evidence‑based implementation strategies to assist healthcare organizations in embedding tobacco‑dependence treatment into standard patient care. This includes guiding partners through program planning, training, data utilization, quality improvement processes, and ongoing sustainability efforts, ensuring consistent and effective delivery of smoking cessation services.

Support the implementation, delivery, and maintenance of activities outlined in OMSC program workplans.

Apply evidence‑based implementation and system‑change approaches to support clinical teams in integrating smoking cessation practices.

Collaborate with community agencies, healthcare providers, and interdisciplinary team members to advance program goals.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with institutional partners and clinical environments.

Organize and deliver training sessions for tobacco‑dependence specialists and frontline healthcare staff.

Collect, manage, and analyze program data to support monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities.

Prepare and deliver presentations, facilitate meetings, and contribute to knowledge exchange activities.

Travel to partner institutions across Ontario and Canada to support implementation and program development.

Provide updates, progress reports, and feedback to the Program Manager and other leadership.

Collaborate across departments and community partners to facilitate program integration and growth.

Contribute to manuscripts, conference presentations, and other dissemination activities supporting knowledge transfer.

Support ongoing quality‑improvement efforts for the OMSC.

Complete additional projects, research tasks, and duties assigned by leadership.

Bachelor’s degree in health-related discipline.

3-5 years of relevant professional experience.

Experience in working in community outreach or public health environments.

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills.

Excellent time management abilities and capacity to prioritize multiple tasks.

Experience with program implementation in healthcare or wellness settings.

Experience with MS suite applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe.

Registration as a regulated health professional.

Experience in clinical research.

Knowledge of smoking cessation research, guidelines, and best practices.

Previous experience in tobacco cessation, public health, or health promotion settings.

Bilingualism (English/French).

This role follows a hybrid work model, with most duties completed remotely and occasional in-office work (approximately 1-4 days per month, subject to change).

Candidates should be able to work independently and be self-motivated in a variety of work environments, including office settings, healthcare sites, and hotels.

This position involves extended periods of sitting during a standard working 7.5-hour workday and requires regular travel throughout Ontario, and occasional travel across Canada.

Travel responsibilities may involve prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. Travel occurs approximately 2 to 5 times per month and may include overnight stays.

Candidates must have access to a reliable vehicle, possess a valid driver’s license, and be comfortable driving for extended periods of time. This role also requires the ability to navigate airports, train stations, and other transportation hubs.
